History, culture and beauty in the heart of Ibiza Town

An extraordinary location that fuses Mediterranean heritage, landscapes and culture

Hotel Mirador de Dalt Vila is set in a privileged location, in the heart of the old part of Ibiza Town, known as Dalt Vila. This area is more than just a historic quarter; it's a walled town that has witnessed centuries of history and is now one of the most important cultural treasures in the Balearic Islands. In 1999, Dalt Vila was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, recognising its historical and architectural value, along with other sites on the island such as the Phoenician settlement of Sa Caleta and the necropolis of Puig des Molins.

A journey through history

The walled town of Dalt Vila is surrounded by majestic Renaissance walls built in the sixteenth century, an imposing testimony to the defensive architecture of the time. Strolling along the narrow cobbled streets of Dalt Vila is like a journey into the island's past discovering traces of various civilisations, from the Phoenicians to the Arabs, who have left their mark on every corner. The views from the walls, the bastions and the open squares are spectacular, with the blue of the Mediterranean in the background and a panoramic view across the entire island.

During your stay at Hotel Mirador de Dalt Vila, you'll have the chance to explore several of the main landmarks and historic buildings that are just a short stroll away. The key landmarks include:

  • Ibiza Cathedral, a jewel of Catalan Gothic architecture that dominates the skyline at the top of Dalt Vila.

  • The Convent of San Cristóbal, current seat of the Town Council, a building with a religious past that is now the administrative heart of Ibiza Town.

  • The Episcopal Palace, residence of the island's bishop that offers a glimpse into the ecclesiastical life of ancient Ibiza.

  • The Museum of Contemporary Art, which houses permanent and temporary exhibitions by local and international artists, fusing modern culture with the island's history.

A vibrant neighbourhood

with culture, shopping and dining

Dalt Vila isn't just history; it's also a vibrant neighbourhood full of life and activity. Its narrow streets are home to a selection of restaurants, boutiques and art galleries that delight visitors. Here you can enjoy the best Mediterranean cuisine in a unique atmosphere, buy local products, or admire the work of contemporary artists in one of the many galleries that dot the area. This lively atmosphere, with its blend of tradition and modernity, makes Dalt Vila a must-go destination for visitors who want to experience the true essence of Ibiza.
